“Window Beyond”

When I began this piece, I had just put down some color and marks on the canvas. When a shadow from the window behind me fell across the surface. I liked the way the shadow portrayed the windowpanes. I let that moment guide the piece, weaving in layered paper to echo both structure and light. I often see the moon or the morning light as it peeks in whenever I am working and used this as inspiration. The result seemed to tell of a view from within looking out and wondering if the view from outside was as stirring as the view from within.
