I worked with Shari often and liked her. She was a wonderful model. My work often takes off from the inspiration of the model, and it expands from there, but in this instance, I just wanted to be true to her. I hope I have captured her spirit. I heard she had died last year. This piece as a tribute and remembrance.. For the carpet, I used a brushstroke that looks very much like the couching stitch from Medieval times and I think that gave it a nice carpet like quality..I painted her skin tones and makeup with underglazes to be true to her.
