Ancient peoples and their activities fascinate me. Using natural elements to record important events in their lives, they carved their stories onto beautiful rock faces, the canvases of the ancients. These hillside Hawaiian petroglyph figures inspired me to paint the rock formations and the dynamic figures, capturing the greys of the stones and the darkness of the stained figures. I try and guess what the stories are telling us. Were they actual events, dreams of things past, or dreams of things to come?
