Have a Seat is part of my FLORA series, an exploration and celebration of plants growing in the state of Rhode Island. These paintings were created using acrylic paint marker and ink wash on wood panel. I started this one in a greenhouse at one of my favorite places: Ragged Island Brewing Co. I spent a few hours on site composing, blocking in shapes, choosing base colors, and getting the perspective correct. I then took it into my studio, where the story in the painting revealed itself and I made decisions about what’s in / what’s out. I returned to the greenhouse to complete the piece a few days later.
