I made this print based on a black and white photo I took of Martin Newell. I was teaching a printmaking class in which I wanted to instruct newer students how to think about making an image without outlining the subject, but instead to utilize negative space (i.e.: high key lighting). The first pull was done with black ink on white paper, but then I thought it would be even more intriguing to use transparent process colors and layering, thus another lesson!
