Works on Paper
36 x 36 in.

This piece, Windblown, is part of a series called Transitions. When I started this series I was touched by the lament of “women of a certain age”, feeling that they were invisible, overlooked, and insignificant. This series is my attempt to visually capture this time in a woman’s life as an ending as well as a new beginning as the sunflower emits its seeds and begins again.  The subject of this work is an aged, dried sunflower. I used Chinese ink to explore the transient nature of life and the strength of that transience.
