Pastel on sanded paper

I have been painting impressionistic images of sea, sky and land and decided last winter to try something I had done in art school. Dividing up space by lines and values. I started in pastel and it was so exciting especially when I chose vivid colors. I now also do them in oil. I use the palette from the pastel and am able to do layers with some sort of a plan even though I have to wait between each layer.
