When photographing wildlife I look for motion and expression in my subjects. I often drive three hours or more to a wildlife area only to find the wildlife doesn’t cooperate! That was the case on the day I photographed this Great Blue Heron. The Heron personifies stoicism and resoluteness, as a gust of wind ruffles his feathers. His windswept feathers created the motion I needed to make the photo more engaging.
