My work is inspired by objects and scenes from the natural world. I work mainly in soft pastels, and watercolor. When I’m observing something, I’m not simply noticing the object or the landscape before me, I see the dance of colors in color, the lyricism of line, and the play of shapes through value and space. We are surrounded by sublime beauty in the mundane as much as in the extraordinary, and it’s this transitory beauty that I am compelled to capture. Aiming to make my work accessible and easy to understand, I prefer to create representational work.
