In Figures Embracing, the delicate nature of humanity is portrayed through sculpted figures, creating haunting shadows as important as the physical beings. Capturing body language, movement and how they relate to emotion and character, reflect the human condition exposed in these works. Sculptures of wire mesh reveal figures whose existence is precarious. These copper sculptural works represent a time and place of isolation, where home, assimilation and community are important social issues relevant to our current climate. By penetrating façades, we look deeply into transparent figures seeing what lies in the shadows of the unseen and unspoken.
